Museum of Questionable Medical Devices, Minneapolis
Recently relocated to the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices offers "devious displays of quackery, fraud, deceit and deception" in the world's largest collection of unscientific medical mayhem and chicanery.

Also known as the "Quackery Hall of Fame", the museum contains substantial collections on loan from the American Medical Association, US Food and Drug Administration, St Louis Science Center and the National Council for Reliable Health Information.

As well as a selection of phrenology machines, the museum also has weight-reducing glasses, soap to wash away excess pounds, an energy-boosting drink of pure radium, a foot-powered breast enlarger and a vibrating chair to aid sufferers of constipation.

Day Trip Suggestion
Minneapolis has a wealth of fascinating museums as well as two outstanding art collections, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, housed in a stunning 1915 Beaux Arts building on Third Avenue South and the Walker Arts Center on Vineland Place.

The American Swedish Institute is housed in a 33-room Romanesque mansion on Park Avenue that was built in 1900 and is home to the Swedish cultural center and library. On Church Street Southeast, the Bell Museum of Natural History offers visitors the chance to explore the wildlife and natural environment of Minnesota through interactive exhibits and interpretive tours.
